Rangpur Medical interns go on strike

RANGPUR: The Intern doctors of Rangpur Medical College and Hospital went on a strike for indefinite period protesting an assault on two of their fellows by relatives of a patient who died early Tuesday due to alleged negligence, reports UNB.

The Intern physicians at around 10 am announced that the strike and placed their five-point demands including arrest and punishment of the attackers and ensuring the security of the physicians.

Rahima Begum 85 a resident of Mahigong area in the city was admitted to the cardiology ward of the hospital with chest pain at around 5 am.

The director of the RMCH, Dr Ajoy Kumar Roy said that Rahima died just fifteen minute after her admission when her relatives accused two intern physicians for the death.

The relatives of the patient also physically assaulted the two intern doctors- Halima and Aleya. Meanwhile, the strike of interns has been causing acute suffering to the patients of the hospital.
