Independents clinch Shamsunnahar Hall union polls

Candidates from independent panel swept Shamsunnahar Hall sangsad elections in Dhaka University wining eight posts including vice president (VP) and general secretary (GS) on Monday.

Sheikh Tasnim Afroz Emi and Afsana Chapa—both were active in Quota reform movement—were elected as vice president and general secretary respectively in the hall union polls.

After completion of the counting, the presiding officer came up with the announcement this evening.

Out of 13 posts, however, five posts were claimed by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) nominated candidates.

Earlier in the day, the much-awaited elections to Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) ended amid a boycott call by all other panels except the Chhatra League over the allegations of voter intimidation, vote rigging, and irregularities.
