All six bodies recovered

The body of the last victim of Buriganga boat capsize who along with her five close relatives went missing was recovered on Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Shahida, 28, wife of Shahjalal, of Shariatpur. With recovery of Shahida, all the six bodies have been recovered from the river.

The body was found in Awlader Dock area of the river under Dakhshin Keraniganj around 10:15 am, said Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of navy police.

Earlier on Thursday, Shahjalal’s wife Shahida, their two daughters – Meem, 8, and Mahi, 6, -- Shahjalal’s sister Jamshida, her husband Delwar, and their seven-month-old son Junayed went missing when a boat sank near the Sadarghat Launch Terminal around 10:00 pm after it was hit by ‘MV Suravi-7’.  

The navy team recovered Jamshida’s body on Friday while four other bodies were found on Saturday.

They were residing in Kamrangirchar area of the capital and going to the launch terminal to go to their home in Shariatpur.

Shahjalal managed to swim ashore and got admitted to Pangu Hospital, as he lost his two legs during the accident.
