Title aspirants Abahani Limited’s skipper Mossadek Hossain said on Sunday that they are well aware that nothing can be taken granted against any team in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL).
Abahani will take on Uttara Sporting Club at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah as the second phase of DPL will start today at different venues after a day’s gap. While Abahani crossed the opening phase unscratched as the defeated newly included Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) on the opening day, it was not the case with Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club as they were defeated by another newcomer Uttara to start their campaign on the wrong foot.Mossadek said that though they are confident but they are not taking Uttara lightly as he believes newcomers are always dangerous in the initial phase due to the fact that other teams are not familiar with their combination at the beginning.
“Teams like BKSP and Uttara are formed with new faces,” Mossadek told reporters at academy premises in the capital on Sunday.
“Playing against new players is always a challenge because we are not used to their brand of cricket and certainly it is tough to plan when you are not sure about their composition,” he said.
“Uttara is playing well and they have won a match. We also won a tough match. Our players are confident. If we get support from our top order we will play well,” he added.
