SME products fair ends in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI: The eight day long SME products fair ended here at Narsingdi Shilpakala Academy premises on Thursday, reports BSS.

The fair was arranged with the assistance of District Administration, Bangladesh Small Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) and National Association of small cottage industries (NASIB).

Minister for Industry Advocate Nural Mojid Muhamud Humyain inaugurated the fair on February 28 as chief guest.

In the concluding function, incumbent MP and former State Minister for Water Resources Lt Colonel (retd) Nazrul Islam Hiro attended as chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Syeda Farhana Kawnine in the chair.

Assistant general manager of BSCIC, Sazzad Hossain, Additional Police Super Shahariar Alam, President of district Chamber of Commerce Abdullah Al Mamun and President of NASIB Mohammad Nurul Hoque addressed the function as special guests.

Nazrul Islam Hiro said SME sector is helping the development of the economic condition of the country. He stressed the need for boosting investment in small and medium enterprise (SME) sector.

He termed the SME sector as labour-intensive and viewed that successful promotion of the sector could be the effective means of alleviating poverty and generating employment opportunity to accelerate economic growth.

He went around the stalls in the fair. Later, he distributed prizes among the best 27 stalls. Nakshi Kanta Enterprise selected as the best among the participated 60 stalls in the fair.
