Arundhati Roy’s talk held at Midas center

A discussion programme by the Indian novelist Arundhati Roy was held at Midas center at Dhanmondi in the city on Tuesday night.

Earlier, the programme was suspended by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) due to ‘unavoidable circumstances’.

Later, the organiser managed to obtain permission from the authorities concerned and held the hour-long programme starting at 8pm.

Authorities of Chobi Mela, the international photography festival in Dhaka, arranged the programme titled ‘Utmost Everything’.

The Booker Prize winning novelist Arundhati Roy and renowned Bangladeshi photographer Shahidul Alam took part in the event.

Drik Picture Library and Pathshala South Asian Media Institute jointly organised the Chobi Mela, the first photography festival in Asia.

Arundhati is best known for her novel ‘The God of Small Things’, which won her the Booker Prize in 1997.

She is also a human rights activist and a vocal for protection of environment.
