Law enforcers nabbed 59 alleged drug traders and addicts raiding various parts of the capital from Saturday morning to Sunday morning.

According to DMP news, police arrested 57 drug traders and addicts during raids all over the city.

Police personnel of different stations and members of detective branch under the DMP captured them.

The lawmen recovered 12,388 Yaba tablets, 730 grams of ganja, 14 bottles of Phensedyl and 706 grams of heroin.

A total of 42 cases were lodged against the arrestees under Narcotics Control Act.

On the other hand, Rapid Action Battalion-3 (Rab) arrested two alleged drug traders with 32 white Yaba tablets during a raid in the city’s Khilgaon area early on Sunday. Acting on a tip-off that some drug traders were selling Yaba pills in front of Tilpapara Medicine Corner on PC Link Road, a team of the RAB unit rushed to the spot and arrested the two.

They are Mohammad Selim, 35, son of Shamul Alam of Raikhali under Chandraghona of Rangamati, and Angkol Marma, 20, son of Ruichai Marma of Sadu Kabari Para under Ramghar in Khagrachhari.

The Yaba pills and two mobile phones were recovered from their possession. They are tenants on the fifth floor of a building owned by Faruk near Bashar Tower in Mugda.

They have long been supplying white Yaba pills from Cox’s Bazar to the capital city. They are believed to be the members of a seasoned gang.

The RAB is now trying to arrest other members of the gang. Earlier on October 21 last year, the RAB-3 nabbed an alleged drug trader named Razib Molla, 22, with 80 white Yaba tablets in the city’s Hatirjheel area.
