‘Drug trader’ killed in Mymensingh ‘gunfight’

 

A suspected drug trader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ between police and his cohorts at Trishal bus stand in the town early Friday.

 

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rashid,50, a listed drug trader.

 

Officer-in-charge of district DB police Shah Kamal Akand said tipped of that a group of drug traders would gather in the area to share money of drug trade a team of DB police conducted a drive.

 

Sensing their presence, the drug traders opened fire on the policemen, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight, leaving Rashid injured.

 

Doctors declared him dead when he was taken to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital.

 

One pipe gun and 100 grams were heroin were recovered from the spot.

 

Two policemen were also injured during the gunfight, he said.
