Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) observed Martyred Day and the International Mother Language Day with Provatferi (Procession in the Morning), tribute at the BUBT’s Shahid Minar, discussion and cultural sessions. The discussion was organised on February 21 at the Hall room of BUBT permanent campus, Rupnagar, Mirpur-2, where Ekushey Podok laureate writer Professor Dr. Syed Manzurl Islam was the Chief Guest.
He said, “Language Movement in 1952 was a drive against the colonialism of West Pakistan. To honour that movement and the martyrs, we should uphold the spirit of that time. To become a part of the great nation we should keep our language alive.”He also emphasized on practicing of our colloquial languages but we must practice a standard language at the public which is generally calledas ‘Promit Bangla’.
The programme was presided over by Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor, BUBT. He described the history of the Mother Language Movement. He urged audience to prevent distortion of the Bengali language.
