Army builds 7 temporary bridges on Turag River for Ijtema

Bangladesh Army has set up seven temporary floating bridges over the Turag River to succor the devoted Muslims with better transportation for the upcoming Bishwa Ijtema 2019, in Tongi.


The Biswa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of Muslim community after Hajj, scheduled to be held from February 15 to 18, 2019 on the bank of the river Turag.


An Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release on Tuesday said the army members established camp in Ijtema area from February 4 last to complete this welfare work under the stern supervision of 14 Independent Engineer Brigades and the army also arranged the other vital facilities for the masses.


Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, State Minister for Religious Affairs said that Maulana Jubair Hassan will conduct the Ijtema in the first two days while Syed Wasif Islam will be conducting the last two days.


Two-phases of Biswa Ijtem had been scheduled to be held on January 11-13 and January 18-20 last, but dates were postponed due to the national election on December 30.
