‘Drug trader’ killed in Rajshahi ‘gunfight’

A suspected drug trader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ between two groups of drug traders at Rautha village in Charghat upazila early Monday, UNB reports.


The deceased was identified as Fazlul Haque alias Fazlu, 48, son of Wahab Munshi and an accused in 10 drug cases.


A press released signed by senior assistant superintendent of Police Abdur Razzak Khan, said that, being tipped off over a gunfight between two groups of drug traders at the village around 1:45 am over establishing supremacy, a team of police rushed to the spot.


Police opened 10 rounds of bullet to bring the situation under control.


The drug traders also attacked police, leaving four policemen, including officer-in-charge of Charghat Police Station, injured, it said.


Later, police recovered Fazlul’s bullet hit body from the spot and seized a foreign pistol, a magazine, one-round of bullet and 55 bottles Indian Phensidyl.
