One killed in Moheshkhali ‘Gunfight’

A suspected criminal was killed in a reported gunfight between two groups of criminal gangs in Kalmadia area in Moheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar early on Tuesday.


The deceased was identified as Sahab Uddin, 35, son of Abdur Rahim, of Nonachhari village in Moheshkhali upazila.


A police team went to the area in the morning after learning about the gunfight and recovered the body, said Probash Chandra Dhar, officer-in-charge of Maheshkhali Police Station.


After a three-hour-long gunfight, police rescued the bullet-riddled body of a criminal from the spot.


Four firearms were also recovered from the site of the gunfight, he said.


Shahabuddin was accused in a number of criminal cases, the OC added.
