2 brothers to die over killing of expatriate in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: A Chattogram court on Wednesday sentenced death sentence to two brothers for killing an expatriate over land dispute at Fatikchhari upazila in the district in 2011.

The court of Chattogram Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal Acting Judge Md Abdul Halim also gave financial penalty of Tk 5 lakh to each of the convicts, said court Public Prosecutor (PP) Ayub Khan.

The absconding convicts identified as Jahedul Alam and his brother Khorshed Alam, were residents of village Nanupur under Fatikchhari upazila in the district.

According to deposition of the case, there was a dispute between expatriate Md Yunus and the convicts over land at Nanupur village under the upazila.

Jahedul and Khorshed hacked the expatriate to death during an arbitration arranged to settle the dispute at their house on April 11 in 2011.

Victim’s wife Khatija Akter filed a murder case accusing the duo with the police station the following day.
