A two-member delegation from Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) called on Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh on 22 January 2019.
Professor Kyoung Yul Bay, Sangmyung University (SMU) Korea led the delegation. Dr. Bay informed Professor Mannan that KOICA wants to design a project worth around $ 7.5 million for the empowerment of young women from poor families. The project will also focus on young entrepreneurs in Bangladesh.
Mr. Bay sought cooperation from UGC so that selected universities can provide students, space, equipment and training facilities to them.
The UGC Chairman welcomed the delegation and said it will play meaningful role if it has any involvement in the project. Professor Mannan said that they also want women empowerment and young entrepreneurship in the country. For this, UGC will work together with KOICA.
Professors Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Members, UGC; Dr. Md. Khaled, Secretary, Md. Shahin Siraj, Deputy Secretary, UGC, among others, were present.
