Information Minister Hasan Mahmud said that BNP leaders are making irrelevant remarks about their humiliating defeat in the last general election.
“They (BNP leaders) are making incomprehensible comments due to their heavy defeat in the last national election. They are making such comments to throw the election into question,” he said.Hasan, also publicity and publication secretary of Awami League, said this while exchanging views with journalists at his secretariat office in the city on Monday.
The information secretary further said, “They (BNP) had nominated over 800 candidates in 300 seats as they know that they would suffer a crushing defeat in the polls.
“The candidates of BNP didn’t carry out electoral campaigns. They participated in the polls only to make it questionable.”
Assailing BNP top leaders, Hasan said they are proving their political bankruptcy through holding press conferences.
“Rather try to find the cause of the debacle in the election. Try to analyse why candidates didn’t run campaigns and who were behind nomination trade,” he added.
The information minister termed the general elections most peaceful polls in the history. “Such election never happened in the country,” he said. The information minister said Awami League conducted the election campaign using social media, holding programmes and street rallies. On the other hand, BNP even didn’t put up posters, he added.
Hasan said the reconstituted cabinet committee on reviewing the report of the Ninth Wage Board for journalists and employees of newspapers and news agencies will soon begin work.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reconstituted the cabinet committee at the maiden cabinet meeting of the new government. Now the committee will work to implement the Ninth Wage Board award,” he said.
