National unity based on the spirits of Liberation War is a must for realization of dreams of Martyr Asad of mass upsurge of 1969.
Secretary General of Bangladesh NAP M Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan made the remarks while speaking at a discussion in the capital on Sunday.
Mostafa said supreme sacrifice of Asad paved the way for the fall of the then autocratic regime of Pakistan led by President Ayub Khan.
The mass upheaval in 1969 quickened the movement for independence of Bangladesh, he said.
Paying huge tribute to Martyr Asad, the NAP leader said, “The martyrdom of Asad is a milestone of the history of our independence.”
With Dhaka city unit president of Bangladesh NAP Md Shahidunnabi Dablu in the chair, Secretary General of NDP Md Manjur Hossain Isa, NAP vice chairman Swapan Kumar Saha, and organizing secretary Md Kamal Bhuiyan also spoke on the occasion, among others.
