The Spanish Football Federation has released a statement to say that its disciplinary committee has rejected Levante’s case against Barcelona for fielding an ineligible player in the Copa del Rey last-16 tie on 10 January.

Following their defeat at the hands of Barcelona in the second leg of the cup tie, which sent the Catalan club through 4-2 on aggregate, Levante submitted a complaint to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) over Barca’s 19-year-old defender Brandariz Chumi’s alleged ineligibility to play in the first leg of the tie.

But the RFEF has rejected the complaint on the grounds.

But Levante have confirmed that they will now take their case to the Spanish FA’s Appeals Committee.

Earlier, in 2016, Real Madrid were disqualified from the Copa for fielding Denis Cheryshev, despite the player being suspended.
