5.10 lakh children to get ‘Vitamin A plus’ capsule

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has planned to feed some 5.10 lakh children ageing from six to 59 months ‘Vitamin A plus capsule’ on the occasion of ‘National Vitamin A plus Campaign-2019’ (second round) scheduled to be observed on January 19.  

CCC Health Affairs Standing Committee President and also Councillor Nazmul Hoque Duke informed this at a meeting organised to set work-plan to make the ‘Vitamin A plus Campaign’ successful at auditorium of CCC General Hospital in the city’s Sadarghat area on Sunday. 

With CCC Chief Health Officer Dr Selim Akter in the chair, Chattogram Divisional Assistant Health Director Dr Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, CCC Health Officer Dr Mohammad Ali, Dhaka Shishu Hospital Assistant Professor Dr Rizwanul Ahmed, World Heath Organisation Representative Dr Sarwar Alam, CCC Memon Maternity Hospital In-charge Dr Ashis Kumar Mukherjee, CCC Zonal Medical Officers Dr Imam Hossain Rana, Dr Suman Talukder, Dr Mujibul Alam Chowdhury and Dr Rafiqul Islam were present at the meeting among others.   Addressing the meeting as the chief guest, Councillor Duke called upon all to make the campaign successful to prevent the diseases affect due to lack of ‘Vitamin A plus.’

He also urged the authority concerned to carry out campaigns in mosque, temple and church so that no child misses the capsule.  

CCC Zonal Medical Officer Dr Hasan Murad Chowdhury put up different advantages and disadvantages of the ‘Vitamin A plus’ capsule through power-point presentation at the meeting conducted by Zonal Medical Officer Tapan Kumar Chakrabartya.   

Sources said the CCC will feed each of 80,000 children ageing six to 11 months one blue ‘Vitamin A plus’ capsule.
