Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said any violence in the name of movement will be dealt with strictly.
“Strict action will be taken if any political party tries to carry out subversive acts. A befitting reply will be given to BNP-dominated Jatiya Oikya Front if it tries to unleash violence in the name of movement,” he said.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, was talking to reporters at the ferry terminal in Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj.The ministers of the new government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went to Tungipara in Gopalganj on Wednesday to pay homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman following formation of the Awami League government for the third consecutive term.
The minister came up with the remarks as the JOF on Tuesday announced three-point programmes, demanding re-election.
Quader said he has no objection if the JOF fights legal battle or announces political programmes.
“AL will face it legally or politically if the JOF wants a legal battle or announces political programmes,” he said.
The minister said none will believe that BNP and JOF can do anything after they were defeated both in their movement and the election.
“They [BNP and JOF] will not succeed in waging a movement or anything else in the future,” he said.The AL general secretary said nobody believes that the political party defeated in the parliamentary election on December 30 has the capacity to wage any political movement.
“The opposition cannot even wage a movement for ten minutes in the last ten years. What will they do now?” he questioned.
AL president Sheikh Hasina took oath as the prime minister for the fourth time, the third in a row, heading a 47-member council of ministers on Monday, a week after the Awami League-led grand alliance’s landslide victory in the 11th parliamentary election held on December 30.
