Bangladesh Mahila Parishad on Monday voiced concern over the murder of two housewives in Gazipur and Narayanganj and demanded exemplary punishment for the killers.

On Sunday morning, police recovered the body of Jannatul, wife of Al Amin, from Jugirsit Village in Sreepur of Gazipur after she went missing on January 2 when she was coming to his father-in-law’s house with her husband. She was found with her throat cut.

On January 4, Tuhin ‘killed’ his wife Ummehani of Bhurbhuriartek Village in Araihazar of Narayanganj by poising her ‘fuska’.

Tuhin got married to another woman, which became an apple of discord between the victim and Tuhin. On the day, Tuhin forced his wife to eat fuska.

In a written statement, Bangladesh Mahila Parishad said killers must be arrested as early as possible. It also demanded steps to ensure security for the victims’ family members and called upon all to stand beside the oppressed women.
