BOGURA: The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) is expecting to produce over 0.8 million tonnes of fresh transplanted Aman rice output from around 0.2 million hectares of crop land in Bogura district this season.
T-Aman rice seedling had been planted from last week of July to August. Then, the farmers of the agri-prone area have provided fertiliser and insecticide to the paddy farm aiming good yield.Meanwhile Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) has provided quality seed during the time of transplanting the paddy among the farmers to ensure bumper production. Besides, the authority concern has distributed Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and Muriate of Potash (MoP) fertilisers as incentive.
DAE has taken measure steps to ensure smooth supply of seed, fertilisers, electricity and delivering technologies to make the farming a grand success.
The farmers have already started harvesting short duration BINA-7 paddy variety in a full swing as they will bring the same land under potato, maize and winter vegetables cultivation on their lands.
Farmer Hafizar Rahman at Gunaher village under Dupchanchia upazila said he has planted T-Aman paddy on four bighas of land spending Tk 42,000 this season. He is expecting to achieve 90 to 100 maunds of output, he added.
Deputy Director of DAE Protul Chandra said an agriculture-related organisation under the Ministry of Agriculture has extended assistance hands to the farmers to make the T-Aman rice framing programme successful. We have also provided logistic support among the farmers for surplus yield, he added.
