The Dhaka south and north city corporations have jointly introduced hotline 09611000999 aimed at cleaning waste of sacrificial animals within 24 hours.
The hotline is mainly introduced to ease public sufferings and facilitate complaints of waste management and cleanliness during the vacation of Eid-ul-Azha.
Authorities of the city corporations urged the city dwellers to give suggestions or lodge complaints to the city corporations over the hotline regarding waste management.
Both the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) have cancelled Eid holidays of their employees to clean waste of sacrificial animals at the quickest possible time.
Around 30 tonnes of waste will be generated as five lakh cattle will be slaughtered in the city corporations on the occasion. As many as around 21,000 cleaners of both the city corporations will be engaged in cleaning the waste. The city corporations have a plan of distributing 1.75 lakh bags among the city dwellers ahead of the Eid.
For ensuring better waste management, the city corporations have designated 1,054 spots for slaughtering the sacrificial animals, said additional waste management officials of the DSCC and DNCC Khandoker Milladul Islam and Abul Hasnat Mohammad Ashraful Islam.
They requested the city dwellers to slaughter animals in the designated places.
