Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detained nine members of an organised gang involved in leaking questions of different public examinations in last six days till Wednesday from different parts of the capital.
Briefing reporters at its headquarters in Malibagh on Thursday, Special Super (SS) of CID Mollah Nazrul Islam said that detectives conducted raids at two residential halls of Dhaka University in connection with the leaking of question papers on October 19 last year.
Later, they arrested 29 people including Rakibul Hasan, district sports officer of Natore after a case was registered with Shahbagh Police Station on August 20 in the same year.
Finally, a CID team arrested Alik on August 3 (Friday). Based on his information, the detectives arrested the other eight, he said.
Detectives recovered the on-going BCS written question papers and Tk 60,000 from Hasmot and Hosne Ara’s possessions, the CID officer said.
Doing this business, Ibrahim amassed huge property including land and cash worth around Tk 10 crore, while Alif deposited Tk 3 crore in a bank, claimed the CID official.
Other members also earned huge money and bought property through selling leaked question papers, he added.
