Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detained nine members of an organised gang involved in leaking questions of different public examinations in last six days till Wednesday from different parts of the capital.
The arrestees are Alip Kumar Biswas, assistant director of BKSP and mastermind of the gang, Assistant Administrative Officer of BADC Mostafa Kamal, government school teacher (recommended) of 36th BCS non-cadre Ibrahim, 38th BCS preliminary qualified Ayub Ali Badhan, English teacher of Agrani School Golam Mohammad Babul, Office Assistant of the school Anwar Hossein Majumder and Md Nurul Islam, Social Science teacher of Dhanmondi Government Boys School Hosne Ara Begum and peon of the school Hasmot Ali Shikder.
Briefing reporters at its headquarters in Malibagh on Thursday, Special Super (SS) of CID Mollah Nazrul Islam said that detectives conducted raids at two residential halls of Dhaka University in connection with the leaking of question papers on October 19 last year.
Later, they arrested 29 people including Rakibul Hasan, district sports officer of Natore after a case was registered with Shahbagh Police Station on August 20 in the same year.
Later, CID found involvement of BKSP Assistant Director Alip Kumar Biswas during investigating the case. “He went into hiding when his name was published in different media,” said SS Mollah Jalal.
Finally, a CID team arrested Alik on August 3 (Friday). Based on his information, the detectives arrested the other eight, he said.
Detectives recovered the on-going BCS written question papers and Tk 60,000 from Hasmot and Hosne Ara’s possessions, the CID officer said.
Doing this business, Ibrahim amassed huge property including land and cash worth around Tk 10 crore, while Alif deposited Tk 3 crore in a bank, claimed the CID official.
Other members also earned huge money and bought property through selling leaked question papers, he added.
