Derogatory remarks on BCL: Case filed against IU female student

Two cases were filed on Tuesday against a female student of Islamic University in Kushtia for making ‘derogatory’ remarks about Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on her Facebook wall.

IU BCL unit President M Shahinur Rahman Shahin filed the cases—one for defamation and another under Section 57 of the ICT Act-- with IU Police Station accusing Mousumi Akter Mou, a final year student of Finance and Banking department of the university.

They will look into the matter, Raton Sheikh, officer-in-charge of IU Police Station, told UNB on Tuesday morning.

Earlier on Monday, the university authorities suspended Mousumi for making ‘derogatory’ remarks about BCL on Facebook.

A three-member probe body was also formed with IU Student Adviser Prof Rezwanul Islam as its head to look into the matter.
