Ratha Yatra to be celebrated Saturday

 

The Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath Dev, one of the major festivals of the Hindu community, will be held on Saturday morning across the country amid religious fervour and enthusiasm.

 

It is expected that hundreds of devotees would congregate in their respective pilgrim places to witness the chariot festival, also called Gundicha Yatra, Dasavatara and Navadina Yatra.

 

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday greeted members of the Hindu community on the occasion of Ratha Yatra.

 

In separate messages, they wished successes of all programmes of the major festival of the Hindu community.

 

President Hamid said Ratha Yatra said Ratha Yatra is one of the main religious festivals of the Hindu community.

 

Hindu community has been celebrating Ratha Yatra with due respect and religious solemnity from ancient time, he added.

 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her message said she is delighted to know that the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKON) is publishing a souvenir on the occasion of the Ratha Yatra. 

 

She hoped the Ratha Yatra will play an important role to build mutual trust and amity among people irrespective of castes, creeds and religions.
