E-commerce platform for rural women launched

A specialised digital business platform for rural women introduced to empower the community through women entrepreneurship.

Internet-based shopping mall Bagdoom and Embassy of Sweden jointly launched the e-commerce platform, Kristi under the programme styled 'Women's Economic Empowerment through Strengthening Market Systems'.

iDE Bangladesh Country Director Deepak Dhoj Khadka and Bagdoom Co-founder Syeda Kamrun Ahmed, along with the women entrepreneurs were present at the launching ceremony, said a press release on Sunday.

Kristi is a women empowerment initiative focused on providing rural women entrepreneurs more advanced platform to sell their products nationwide and expand their customer base.

The programme is currently working in Rangpur and Khulna division across 9 districts in home textiles and jute diversified products and processed and packaged foods.

Syeda Kamrun Ahmed said, “We hope that more rural women will use this platform to present their products to customers home and abroad. BAGDOOM, from its initiation, has always tried to associate itself with women empowerment and hence this sustainable platform makes more of sense.”
