The cold wave, which has been sweeping across the country’s northern and southern regions for over two weeks, may continue until February 15, according to Met Office sources.

The persisting mild cold may turn into moderate cold wave in the last part of January or the first part of February, said Abdur Rahman, an official of Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

There might be no severe cold wave in the remaining days of this winter, he said.

Currently, a mild cold wave is sweeping across Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, Dinajpur, Satkhira, Jessore and Chuadanga and it is likely to weaken in some places by this morning, Met office sources said.

Light to moderate fog is likely to occur over the country from Thursday midnight to Friday morning, the sources added.

Night and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country during the period.   Country’s minimum 8.1 degrees Celsius was recorded in Rajshahi and maximum 26.6 degrees was recorded at Sitakunda in Chittagong on Thursday.  Minimum temperature in Dhaka was recorded 15 degrees on the day.
