Dr Sayedur Rahman Chowdhury, one of the accused in the historic Agartala Conspiracy Case and Language Movement veteran, died at a city hospital this morning.
Dr Sayedur Rahman, a valiant freedom fighter and also a close associate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, died of old age complications at the age of 87, family members said.
The death of Sayedur, who was arrested in connection with Agartala Conspiracy Case in 1966, cast a pall of gloom in political, social, cultural and literary arenas.
He left behind two sons, two daughters and a large number of political comrades, host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
He had been associated with scores of philanthropic and social welfare organisations including Chittagong Diabetic Association and Nasirabad Housing Society.
The namaz-e-janaza of late Chowdhury was held at Batali Hill High School playground after Asr prayers.
