BSMMU doctor ‘raped’ patient

A doctor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the capital has been sued on a charge of violating a female patient.

The victim’s father filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station in the capital on Monday against Dr Riyad Siddique.

The victim made her judicial statement on Tuesday before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court in the case.

According to the case statement, Dr Riyad allegedly touched the sensitive organs of a 17-year-old girl when she went to take treatment of her skin disease at his private chamber on October 6, last year.

On December 29, Riyad again sexually abused her when she went to him for treatment at Jamuna Medical Services in Bhola where the doctor moonlights on Fridays.

The following day, the doctor called the girl’s parents on a plea that a medical board will be formed for her treatment at BSMMU.

Later, her parents came to BSMMU along with their daughter.  

Dr Riyad, a doctor of the dermatology department, took the girl to B Block at BSMMU, tried to rape her.

He captured indecent pictures of the girl and threatened to release it on the internet if she discloses it.
