26 killed, 22 injured in Faridpur bus plunge

At least 26 people were killed and 22 others injured when a passenger bus plunged into a road side ditch as the driver lost control over the steering at Kaidub area of Bhanga upazila in Faridpur early today.
Among the 26 deceased, 11 were identified as--Shahin Sikder, 20, Asma, 27 , Sumon, 28, Monirul, 35, Rezaul, 23, Afzal, 48, Surja Begum, 70, Helal Kabir, 40, Amena , Aklima, 10, supervisor Shafiqul Bhuiyaan,
The accident took place in the area around 1:30am when the Barisal-bound bus of Sonartari Paribahan from Dhaka plunged into a roadside ditch after hitting a tree as the driver lost control over the steering, said Jamil Hasan, superintendent of police in Faridpur.
The injured were rushed to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital and were undergoing treatment at hospital.
