Indian national among 2 held at Benapole

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two people, including an Indian national, in Benapole check-post area on Thursday for crossing the border illegally.

The arrestees were identified as Sanjay Barma, 40, son of Bhagaban Das of Agra district in India and Abu Siddique, 30, son of Shukur Ali of Haziganj upazila of Chandpur district, reports UNB.

Suspecting the movement of the two men, a BGB team challenged them in the afternoon, said commanding officer of 49 BGB battalion, Lt Col Arifur Rahman.

Later, the BGB men arrested them while trying to cross the border showing fake documents, he said.

A case was filed.
