From September 23-24, something is going to take place at Drik Gallery, Dhanmondi that has never happened in Bangladesh before! It is something that will unleash your inner child, make you nostalgic and of course, create great memories for you to share with your kids and grandkids. It is the first ToyCon. Saadi Rahman, the founder of Dhaka Comicon, now brings Bangladesh’s first ever ‘Toy Convention’ and it is surely going to be a thrilling experience. Radio Dhol, Daily Sun, Brandmyth Digital, RollOut, TGS, Toylet, Star Cineplex, Dhaka Comicon and Multimedia Kingdom are the partners of the event.

“What was once a dream is now coming to life”, said the organizer, Saadi. “Toycon has been on my mind at least for 10 years! When we started Dhaka Comicon six years back, it would have been tough to explain Toycon! But now that the pop culture scene in Dhaka has matured, I felt it was the right time to bring it!”

The two days’ event will run from 11am to 8pm daily. There will be an entire floor dedicated to a ‘Toy and Collectibles Museum’ boasting toys from the 1950’s till present date. Whether you are a Marvel fan or a DC fan, it’s all here under one roof. A huge Lego pavilion as well as Marvel/Dc pavilion and a Star Wars Pavilion will make your eyes pop out. This floor will also feature some key talent in this field - diorama makers, 3d toy designers as well as collectors having panel sessions. Moreover the geek squad will be making a video documentary on all local collectors. There will be ‘action figure photography contest’ as well as ‘best collector contest’ with amazing prizes. Dhaka Comicon and Star Cineplex will be doing special giveaways. The second floor will host amazing vendors so that you can shop till you drop. Big names such as Toylet, Rollout, ToyMoy, Knock, Saadi’s Collectible’s, DCCCB, Graceology, Kraftz, Geekaroo, Worthy Toys, Action Collectible’s, Different Colors and Sketch will be bringing your favourite action figures and pop culture merchandise. Last but not least, Cookups will have a ‘food and refreshment’ corner! All in all, it will be a fun-filled event. It is surely something you don’t want to miss!
