Chief Justice urges journalists not to misquote him

Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha has urged journalists not to misquote him as such incidents create confusion among people.

"I am requesting you (journalists), not to misquote me. Confusions have been created regarding my speech. Whatever I say in court, it is being distorted. I have to face embarrassing situation for this," he said.

Justice Sinha came up with the observations while addressing a function held on the occasion of unveiling the cover of a book titled "Judicial Interpretation" by lawyer Shanti Pada Ghosh at Shaheed Shafiur Rahman Auditorium at Supreme Court Bar Council Bhaban on Thursday, reports BSS.

"It is not possible for me to arrange a press conference and address it. I can ask question to engaged lawyer during the hearing of a case. It is my liberty. Please keep in mind that if you write about that without realising the reason behind asking the question, it can create mistakes," he added.

Senior jurist Dr Kamal Hossain addressed the function as main discussant.
