Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque said today (Saturday) law enforcers will provide protection to SSC examinees on their way to examination centres during the BNP-led 20-party alliance blockade.
“If the government wants to take examinations, members of all the law enforcement agencies like BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh), Ansar, and elite force will be deployed to ensure security of the students on their way to the exam centres and during the examinations” he said.
The IGP was addressing a press briefing at police headquarters in the morning two days ahead of the SSC Examinations scheduled to begin on February 2.
The police chief also sought cooperation from the public and politicians so that the students can sit for the examinations safely.
The BNP-led alliance has called a countrywide 72-hour hartal from tomorrow defying pleas of guardians and the government to withdraw the blockade and hartal for SSC examinations.
The 20-party alliance is observing the indefinite blockade since January 5 protesting the government restriction on holding a rally of the alliance marking January 5 election anniversary.
