The members of Indian Border Force (BSF) beaten a Bangladeshi cattle trader to death on PutKhali frontier in Benapole early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Alim Khandker, 30, son of Yusuf Khandker, a resident of the Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj district.
While Alim was returning home with cattle through the border, BSF troops of Angrail camp took him to the camp and beat up him mercilessly, said Lt Col Abdur, commander of BGB-23.
Local people recovered his floating body from the Ichhamati river and informed police.
Police recovered the body around 1pm and sent it hospital morgue for an autopsy. The body bore several injury marks.
