National Board of Revenue (NBR) has planned to observe 'Hal Khata' on the occasion of Bengali New Year as part of its move to collect outstanding revenue.

He said, "We've taken a new plan to realize outstanding revenue . . . we'll observe Hal Khata this time and as part of it, we'll entertain the business people with sweets on Choitra Sangkranti, a day before the first day of Boishakh."

He said a revenue culture is being established across the country as the people are now paying tax eagerly. The number of e-TIN holder in the country is now 28 lakh, he added.

About the new VAT (Value Added Tax) law, Nojibur Rahman said enforcement of this law will open up a new era of possibility. NBR will implement this law judiciously, he said and sought cooperation from journalists in this regard.

Highlighting different sides of the new VAT law NBR member (VAT) Barrister Jahangir Hossain said the VAT administration will be a service-oriented body by implementing the new VAT law and the business people will get their necessary services more easily.

He said enforcement of the new VAT law will not have any impact on the prices of goods and services.
