CHARLIZE THERON is reportedly commanding an equal fee to male co-star Chris Hemsworth for new film The Huntsman. Hollywood received a slew of unfavourable headlines when the disparity between male and female actors' pay in Oscar-nominated film American Hustle was revealed due to the Sony emails hack, but it seems that the breach has thrown a spotlight on the practice, prompting actresses to negotiate for fairer treatment.
"Charlize insisted that she get paid the same money as Chris. She has a great track record, so she got the same deal," a Hollywood source told Page Six, while another insider added: "One knock-on effect from the Sony hacking scandal is that there will be more sensitivity about equal pay for actresses and hiring practices at movie studios."
The Huntsman, made by Universal, is the prequel to 2012's Snow White and the Huntsman, which starred Kristen Stewart in the titular role. Hemsworth and Theron will reprise their roles as huntsman Eric and wicked queen Ravenna for the new movie, set to be released in April 2016.
