Dhaka Metropolitan Police chief Asaduzzaman Miah said on Tuesday that action will be taken against the authors and publishers for publishing books hurting religious sentiments in the Ekushey book fair under criminal code and ICT Act.
Firstly, authors will review their books whether its hurt anyone’s religious sentiment and then, the publishers to review their books, he said.
The DMP chief also warned that actions will be taken against them if found they are selling books that inciting communal conflicts.
The DMP boss came up with the warning while briefing reporters at Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan.
Special Branch (SB), detectives, and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit will also remain watchful over those books hurting people’s sentiment.
Police also may use suo moto power to actions against such books.
