Wikipedia has launched a special programme for women titled “Women in Wikipedia” to increase the participation of women in the internet-based open source knowledge platform.
“We will execute a specialised programme for women, especially who are interested in writing. There will be connected women students of 10 universities across the country by this year,” Bangla Wikipedia Administrator Nurunnaby Chowdhury said while talking to Daily Sun on Saturday.
The Wiki campaigner informed that the programme has started from World University as a part of a pilot project and will be expanded nationwide by the end of this year.
Wikimedia Bangladesh is celebrating a decade of launching Bangla edition of the internet knowledge bank on January 27 in 2004.
“Wikimedia, the operational organisation of Wikipedia, will also host a special programme this year to inspire journalists to contribute with writings and photos for the largest hub of open source information in Bangla language,” Chowdhury added.
