Smugglers abandon 100 gold bars inside a Qatar Airways flight

Customs officials on Monday seized 100 gold bars weighing around 11.6 kilogrammes from an aircraft at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

 

No one was so far arrested in this regard.

 

 

Assistant commissioner of the Customs House, HM Ahsanul Kabir said, the gold bars were found as abandoned in the Qatar Airways flight that reached the Dhaka airport from Doha in the morning.

 

The flight QR-640 landed at Dhaka around 10:48 AM, delayed by 38 minutes.

 

Officials raided the Airbus A330-300 twin-jet aircraft and found the gold bars wrapped up in red coloured cloth and inside a packet, he added. According to the estimate of the officials, the bars are worth Tk 5.45 crore.
