Police file cases against five ‘Huji men’ held in Chittagong raid

Police have started three separate cases against five suspected militants held during Thursday’s raid at a ‘hideout’ in Chittagong city.

Golam Rabbani, Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of Rapid Action Battalion-7 Chittagong, filed the cases against Nazim Uddin, Tajul Islam, Hafez Abu Jar Gifari, Iftisham Ahmed and Nure Alam with Akbar Shah Police Station on Thursday night. Police arrested the men and said they are the member of Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami (Huji) militant group.

Officer-in-charge of the police station Sudip Das said the Rab official filed the cases under the Anti-terrorism Act, Explosive Substances Act and Arms Act.

Earlier on Thursday morning, police arrested the five Huji members from a ‘militant den’ in Colonel Haat area of the city.
