BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia left Dhaka for Comilla today morning, to address her party-led 20-party alliance’s public rally aimed at drumming up public support for snap polls under a non-party administration.
The motorcade of the BNP chief left her Gulshan residence at around 10:35am.
She will address the rally at Comilla Townhall ground at around 3:00pm.
The BNP members placed several thousand colourful banners and festoons on both sides of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway ahead of Khaleda's visit.
The Jubo Dal members alleged that the activists of Jubo League and Chhatra League have removed many banners and festoons on Friday night.
Jahangir Alam, convener of Daudkandi upazila unit of Jubo Dal, said, “The members of ruling party removed many banners from the roadside.”
On contact, Daudkandi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Salam Miah said, “We did not receive any complains regarding the matter.”
