NDF’s daylong shutdown underway

Dawn to dusk countrywide strike called by newly-formed political alliance, National Democratic Front (NDF) underway today, demanding former minister Abdul Latif Siddique's arrest.
In a statement, NDF Chairman Sheikh Shawkat Hossain Nilu announced the programme on Monday.
“A countrywide strike will be enforced tomorrow if Latif Siddique is not arrested by today (Monday)," NDF's member secretary Alamgir Majumder said on Monday.
Former telecoms minister Siddique, axed from Cabinet as well as Awami League for saying he was opposed to Hajj, returned home by an Air India flight on Sunday night.
He has been accused of hurting religious sentiments in a flurry of cases filed across the country after he made the remark in a discussion in New York in September. There are also warrants out for his arrest.
