Thisara Perera scored a match-winning knock as Barishal Bulls shrugged off their previous match defeat as they bounced back to register an overwhelming six-wicket victory over defending champions Comilla Victorians in the AKS Bangladesh Premeir League (BPL) held on Friday at Sher-e-Bangla Natioanl Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.

Chasing a winning target of 130 runs set by Victorians, Barishal Bulls hardly had to sweat as they comfortable reached homes for the loss of four wickets with nine balls remaining.

Sri Lankan recruit Thisara Perera played a match-winning unbeaten 34 runs and also shared an useful 49 runs partnership with his skipper Mushfiqur Rahim who contributed 33 runs cracking two over boundaries and two boundaries during the 23-ball stay on the crease, after Dawid Malan (26), Shamsur Rahman (16) and Dilshan Munaweera (15) gave Barisal a steady start.

The Victorians were in trouble early as they lost both their openers inside four overs. West Indian Marlon Samuels, however, stopped the rot, and scored run-a-ball 48 with the help of five boundaries.

When Victorians were tottering 73 for 6 in 14 overs, Comilla needed some quick runs and they got some from Sohail Tanvir, who used the long handle and cracked 30 runs from only 19 balls.

Barisal Bulls captain Mushfiqur Rahim used five bowlers today and all of them managed to pick up one wicket to peg back Comilla. Abu Hider took two for 34 while Rayad Emrit and Thisara Perera bagged with a wicket apiece.
