8 BD artists to take training under French designer

Eight best entries, which were submitted for the Franco-German project "Jute & Composite, Tradition & innovation", were selected and winners are to take one-week training under the guidance by a French professional designer and technicians in Dhaka.


The project started in the month of July asking students of Architecture or Fine Arts, or young artists, architects (age limit of 35) to submit a design proposal for a piece of furniture.


Three French experts Antoine Gripay (Design Manager & CEO Studio Katra, France), Quentin Mateus and Clément Renaud (JuteLab, Gold of Bengal), will conduct a furniture design workshop and share their experiences with the best eight winners of the design competition held last July.


In order to interview the French experts and meet participants to the workshop, a meet the press will be organized at auditorium of Alliance Française de Dhaka in city’s Dhanmondi area at 3:30pm on Friday (November 4).


The aim of the workshop is to design furniture using jute fibre composite material using resin transfer moulding process, according to press release of Alliance Française de Dhaka.


Two teams were formed to work on two different projects, from design development to prototype production.


A prototype of the 2 projects developed during the workshop will be produce by our Partner JuteLab, made of composite mixing resin and jute fibre.


The project has been developed by Alliance Française de Dhaka and Goethe-Institut Bangladesh, in collaboration with JuteLab (Gold of Bengal).


OTOBI is partnering and may produce the artefacts in small series.


The two final prototypes will be displayed during the opening of Franco-German Embassy in Dhaka.
