Noting that almost all the demands of petrol pump and tank-lorry owners and workers have already been met, State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid on Wednesday warned that things will be dealt with an iron if they try to hold the government hostage.
Responding to a query about the threat of the petrol pump and tank-lorry owners and workers to go on a nonstop strike from October 30, he, however, said if they have any fresh logical demand, the government will consider it.
Nasrul Hamid said the government has been conducting drives against adulteration of petroleum products at pumps. “If any obstacle is created in the way, the government will be tougher on the issue,” he added.
Replying to another question from reporters at the Bidyut Bhaban in the city on the latest statement issued by Unesco on the Rampal power plant, he said the government still sticks to its position and continues the work.
“Actually, Unesco and other environmental groups are expressing their own views while the government upholds its own position,” he told reporters.
