Both the bourses --Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- posted minor gain last week that ended Thursday, continuing previous week’s gaining spell.
Week-on-week, DSEX, the key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange, rose over 11.99 points or 0.25 percent to finish the week at 4701.31.
The two other indices also edged higher. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 7.59 points or 0.43 per cent to settle at 1767.55.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced by 1.83 points or 0.16 per cent to close at 1123.59.
The week witnessed three trading sessions as rest of two days’ trading remained closed. Of them, first two sessions posted significant fall, while rest one edged higher.
The total turnover for the week stood at Tk14,158,219,596 which was 47.68 per cent lower than the previous week's Tk 27,062,476,913 as last week saw three trading sessions compared to the previous week's five.
The daily turnover averaged Tk 4,719,406,532, registering a decline of 12.81 per cent over the previous week's average of Tk 5,412,495,383.
Overall activities remained confined on, apparel, finance, insurance, and Ceramic sectors, they captured 17.74 percent, 14.16 percent, 13.25 percent and 12.12 respectively by closing price of all companies.
The port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also finished slight higher, with the CSE Selective Categories Index, CSCX, climbing up to 8787.30 by gaining over 13.86 points.
