An engine of intercity Parabat Express train caught fire, causing derailment of its several compartments in Habiganj on Friday monring.

Consequently, the rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country came to a halt.

The train caught fire at Noapara Station in the morning and some compartments derailed as driver pressed the brake immediately.

Several firefighting units rushed in and doused the blaze, said Shayestaganj Station Master Mofazzul Hossainr.

However, no casualty was reported in the fire incident. Salvage train has been trying to rescue the train.
