Police in special drives at different parts of the city arrested 35 drug peddlers along with 54,824 contraband yaba tablets in the last 24 hours.

In the drives conduced from 6 am on Sunday to 6 am today (Monday), police also seized around 100-gram heroin, over three kilograms of cannabis, 40 bottles of phensidyl, one bottle foreign liquor and 25 pieces of injection from their possession, an official release of police said.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has vowed to continue the drives against illegal drugs to stop its menace.

Cases have been lodged with the respective police stations to this end.
